Announcement

On October 10 2011, the first public announcement of Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded was made by Clevver Games.

On October 22 2011, a new official Leisure Suit Larry Facebook page was created. Soon more coverage followed, including by Spike TV with Al Lowe and Paul Trowe as guests.

The Kickstarter

On April 2, 2012 Al Lowe and Replay Games announced the Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded Kickstarter. Paul Trowe, CEO of Replay Games, had obtained the Intellectual Property License from CodeMasters (who obtained the IP from Activision Blizzard and published the disastrous Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust) and had convinced Al to come out of retirement for the remake of the first Larry - Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. Rather than making a new Leisure Suit Larry title, they went for a remake - a condition by Codemasters to see if they could pull it off. As Replay Games approached various publishers, it soon became clear that none of them wanted to support the project as the Larry franchise had in their opinion a bad image. Therefore, following Tim Schafer's massive success through his own Kickstarter project, Replay Games was going to try using the same funding method and see if the Larry fans would support it. Their target was $500,000, to be achieved by 05/02/2012, so in one month. The target was achieved on April 25, one week before the Kickstarter deadline and by the final day the project had achieved $655,182, not including separate Paypal endorsements. Replay Games stated during the Kickstarter that, if $650,000 would be achieved, they would alo add a new game location and a new babe to the game!
