Single Player

First you'll be presented a screen to play either Campaign mode or Instant Action mode.

In Campaign mode, you combat the Cylon menace as you advance through ten thrilling single player missions. Successfully completing each mission will unlock the next in order. After starting a mission, select its difficulty in the mission objective screen and start playing.

In Instant Action mode, you will hone your dog fighting skills as you jump into a Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch against AI controlled opponents. You can select the mode, one of the 10 available maps, the difficulty, number of players (up to 8 vs 8), which side you're on (available in Team Deathmatch mode only) and the match time (5, 10 or 15 minutes).

When you press "Start Game" you first need to select your ship and then proceed to play the Instant Action game.

Multiplayer

When selecting Multiplayer in the main menu, you'll be asked to either play on the internet or via LAN. When selecting internet, you need to log in or create a new user account. Sadly the servers of Battlestar Galactica have been taken down a long time ago and therefore you can no longer use this feature. When selecting LAN, you'll next be asked to join or host a game.

When hosting a game, you'll have the same options as in the Instant Action window with the additional option of setting the required minimum number of players. In addition to Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, also the Domination mode is available:

Deathmatch mode: Every man fights for themselves. The higher a competitor is on the scoreboard, the more points they are worth when they are destroyed. Claim victory by having the most points at the end of the match.

Team Deathmatch: Fight as a team on the side of the Cylon or Humans. The side with the highest cumulative score at the end of the match is declared the victor.

Domination: Coordinate with your squadron to seize and hold turrets scattered throughout the battlefield. Once under your control, these turrets automatically target and attack your opponent's capital ship. Only the side whose capital ship remains at the match conclusion will be triumphant.
