Crazy Nick's Software Picks: Parlor Games With Laura Bow

General

In the summer of 1992 Sierra combined mini arcade sequences, casino and board games that were originally included in various adventure and Hoyle games, and released these mini compilations as budget releases in blister cards under the title Crazy Nick's Software Picks. These contained a single 3.5" floppy and were released for the PC only. Five such compilations were released. Parlor Games With Laura Bow contains the games Yacht and Dominoes that were originally games included in Hoyle Official Book of Games Volume 3: Great Board Games.

The object of Yacht is to score as high of a score as possible in each of the twelve individual categories, thus scoring the highest possible total score. Each Player's turn consists of a maximum of three rolls. After the third roll, a category must be selected in which to score the turn. Players may, however, choose to score the turn after only one or two rolls if desired. A category may only be used once each game. There are twelve categories as follows: Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes, Four of a Kind, Full House, Small Straight, Large Straight, Yacht, and Choice.

The Object of Dominoes is to play your hand in such a way that you have played all of your dominoes before your opponent. Each player takes from the Boneyard either 5 or 7 dominoes each to begin their hand. There are two Forks that dominoes can be played on. The end of the domino being played from your hand must match the end of the last domino played on the Fork. If a player has no possible play on either end, he must take dominoes from the Boneyard one at a time until a play is possible. The hand is over when either player has played the last domino from their hand, or both players pass sequentially.
